The Che Café Collective welcomes new and interested people to get involved with event booking at the Che Café. This form documents information vital to this process. Herein, any amount of Che Members taking RR for the show is addressed as "Core Member" although more may be needed for a particular event. The new people involved with booking, if they are not yet core members, are addressed as "Outside Promoter(s)." This is to avoid confusion not to exclude anybody from becoming a member of the Che Café Collective. The Che Café Collective encourages all interested parties to become members of the collective though meeting attendance, increased involvement, and establishment of a critical relationship.

  1. The Che Café, while non-hierarchical in nature, has certain members who have established a relationship with the collective over time, are directly accountable to the Collective, and have entry, as well as exit, codes to the building. These are called Core Members. Core members are not bosses, supervisors, nor managers. In order for an event to proceed, a Core Member must take 'residual responsibility' (RR) for the event. Without a Core Member taking RR, the event can not happen.
  2. Core Members do not get paid for taking RR for the event, nor do any of the volunteers who work at the event. Outside promoters are expressly forbidden to take any form of stipend, promoter's fee, etc., as any form of these would compromise the long- standing status of the Che Café as "volunteer run." In the event of expenses resulting from an event, the promoter is required to first clear the expense with the collective, and present receipts for expenses prior to reimbursable.
  3. The Che Café Collective requires that the Outside Promoter bring no less than 2 others to help facilitate the event. The Outside Promoter and the additional 2 volunteers must attend a Collective Meeting prior to the event in order for confirmation to occur.
  4. The Outside Promoter is expected to work at the event. Core Members are familiar with the jobs and duties needed during an event, and expect that the Outside Promoter, as well as the two volunteers (see #3), will assist in those duties. In the event that a Core Member feels that an Outside Promoter did not assist in these duties, the issue may be brought to the Collective, perhaps resulting in the barring of other events with said Outside Promoter. The Outside Promoter is also expected to stay at the event until the event is over. Many jobs need attention following an event and it is unfair to leave the full closing duties to the Core Member taking RR.
  5. The process of booking an event at the Che Café is much easier if the Outside Promoter understands the workings of the Che Café prior to booking an event. The Che Café invites, but does not require, Outside Promoters to attend, and volunteer at, events, attend meetings, and establish a relationship with the Collective, as these can expedite the process.
